Explosion While Car Was in Motion

The Hyundai i20 exploded while moving slowly at the Subhash Marg signal near Red Fort Metro. CCTV footage shows the vehicle decelerating before the blast. Investigators are analysing whether it was time-triggered, remote-controlled, or caused by internal factors, highlighting the complexity of detonating a high-intensity explosive in a moving car.

2/8

Tracing Vehicle Movements Post-Blast

The car was parked at Red Fort for three hours before leaving at 6:22 pm. Investigators are mapping the route towards Daryaganj and examining all vehicle movements before the explosion. Understanding these movements is crucial for identifying potential escape routes or locations the suspect may have considered targeting.

3/8

Vehicle’s 11-Hour Journey Traced

Delhi Police have mapped the suspected car’s 11-hour journey from Faridabad to the Red Fort. CCTV footage revealed the car left Faridabad at 7:30 am, passed multiple locations, and finally entered the Red Fort parking area at 3:19 pm, remaining there for about three hours before exiting and the explosion occurred.

4/8

CCTV Evidence

Footage shows the car at Asian Hospital, Badarpur toll plaza, a petrol pump near Okhla Industrial Area, and Red Fort parking. The driver appears alone in all clips. Police are reviewing over 100 CCTV clips, including toll plaza cameras, to trace the vehicle’s complete route and confirm movements leading up to the blast.

5/8

Social Media and Technical Monitoring

Police are monitoring social media activity and conducting technical analysis of mobile communication records. This effort aims to identify connections between the suspects and their networks. Monitoring online activity and communication patterns helps authorities trace accomplices, understand intent, and prevent potential follow-up attacks.

6/8

Damage to Surrounding Vehicles

Photos show cars and two-wheelers scorched and scattered near the blast site. The visual evidence indicates the explosion’s directional impact and the wide debris spread, underlining the power of the detonation and its effect on bystanders and nearby property.

7/8

Multi-Agency Investigation

Delhi Police are leading the investigation with support from FSL, NIA, and other security agencies. Teams are collecting evidence, analysing CCTV footage, and conducting technical checks to reconstruct events. All possibilities, including alternate targets and accomplices, are being considered to fully understand the planning and execution of the attack.

8/8

Communication and Data Analysis

Investigators are analysing mobile phone and IPDR data from devices active near the Red Fort during the blast. This helps track communication between suspects or accomplices. Authorities are also reviewing dump data from the Red Fort parking area and Faridabad to determine links and uncover whether devices went inactive intentionally after the incident.
