Police distorting real picture, says AAP
New Delhi: Responding to charges levelled against
“There are some specific charges against Chauhan to which he will respond better. However, there are certain facts which I will clarify. The police are alleging that the victim’s daughter was expelled from school because she was not willing to compromise. That is false since both her daughters are still in school,” he said.
Pandey said the party volunteer who committed suicide had been brought to him by the party district in-charge. “He called me and told me about the case. I did not know her personally and asked him to bring her, the accused and the MLA to my office the next day. The accused is not known to me and is not a member of AAP. I met all of them the next day for barely five to six minutes. The woman told me that Ramesh Bharadwaj had been misbehaving with her. I asked her to give me a written complaint so that we could take the matter up, but she said she would be content with an apology, if it was tendered in front of some people before whom Bharadwaj had humiliated her. He agreed. That is the last I heard of this issue till the unfortunate incident,” he said.
Meanwhile, after its 12th MLA was booked , AAP once again attacked PM Narendra Modi. Senior party member Ashutosh tweeted: “Another AAP MLA arrested. Has Modi gone mad? Has he lost his mental balance? If PM acts with such anger/vengeance then is country safe!”
AAP also referred to the arrest of Gujarat IAS officer Pradeep Sharma, saying that the Modi government was systematically trying to repress all its opponents. “Sharma is the same officer who had submitted to the Supreme Court an affidavit which claimed that he was being hounded by Modi as Modi had ordered illegal snooping of a woman by state agencies and he, Sharma, was aware of it,” alleged party functionary Ashish Khetan.
Claiming that he could not vouch for Sharma’s innocence, Khetan said: “The action being taken against him is clearly out of line and extreme. Modi is targeting his opponents in a systematic manner, be it his action against Pradeep Sharma, other officers, AAP MLAs or against the AAP government in Delhi. He appears to be concerned only with political persecution.”
