NEW DELHI: The national capital witnessed light rainfall on Saturday morning, with showers reported in areas such as India Gate, Teen Murti, and Central Secretariat. Meanwhile, the Air Quality Index (AQI) remained in the "moderate" category.

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) reported Delhi's AQI at 136 in the "moderate" category at 8am on Saturday.


CPCB measurements at 8 am showed varying AQI levels across locations: Chandni Chowk at 153, Jahangirpuri at 146, Bawana at 164, Okhla Phase 2 at 393, and RK Puram at 111.

The AQI scale categorises readings as follows: 0-50 as "good", 51-100 as "satisfactory", 101-200 as "moderate", 201-300 as "poor", 301-400 as "very poor", and 401-500 as "severe".

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted on Friday light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning across Delhi-NCR and adjacent areas. Wind speeds between 30-50 km/h are anticipated over the next two hours.

The IMD indicated probable rainfall in Delhi-NCR localities including Loni Dehat, Hindon AF Station, Bahadurgarh, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Chhapraula, Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, Manesar, and Ballabhgarh.

The affected areas in Haryana are expected to include Assandh, Safidon, Gannaur, Sonipat, Kharkhoda, Sohana, Rewari, Palwal, Bawal, and Nuh.

Similar weather conditions are predicted for Uttar Pradesh regions including Gangoh, Deoband, Kandhla, Baraut, Bagpat, and Khekra, while Bhiwari in Rajasthan may also experience rainfall and thunderstorms.

The IMD has also warned of potential hailstorms in Rewari, Haryana and Bhiwari, Rajasthan within the next hour.
