Rajouri Garden is one of Delhi's 70 assembly constituencies and is located in the western part of the city. It forms part of the West Delhi Lok Sabha constituency, which includes nine other assembly segments: Madipur, Tilak Nagar, Hari Nagar, Najafgarh, Janakpuri, Vikaspuri, Dwarka, Matiala, and Uttam Nagar.
In the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, Dhanwati Chandela of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won the Rajouri Garden seat, securing 62,212 votes. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, Ramesh Khanna, received 39,240 votes, while independent candidate Sukhpal Singh garnered 5,218 votes. The counting of votes has started at 8am.
Earlier, in the 2017 by-election, Manjinder Singh Sirsa of the BJP emerged victorious with 40,602 votes. Meenakshi Chandela of the Congress secured 25,950 votes, and AAP’s Harjeet Singh received 10,243 votes.
In 2015, AAP is banking on Dhanwati Chandela to continue its dominance in Rajouri Garden, while BJP has fielded Manjinder Singh Sirsa once again in a bid to reclaim the seat and challenge AAP’s stronghold in the constituency.
