NEW DELHI: Supreme Court on Thursday sought the response of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on the bail plea of former Delhi minister and senior AAP leader Satyendar Jain in a money laundering case against him.

A bench of Justices A S Bopanna and Hima Kohli issued notice to the agency on an appeal filed by Jain, challenging trial court and high court orders rejecting his bail plea.

Senior advocate A M Singhvi, appearing for Jain, submitted on Thursday that the health of the former minister is deteriorating and he has lost 35 kilos since he was taken in custody.

Jain's bail plea was rejected by a trial court on November 17, 2022. He then moved Delhi high court, which also rejected his plea.

The ED case is based on a CBI complaint registered on the allegation that Jain had acquired movable properties in the name of various persons from February 14, 2015 to May 31, 2017, which he could not satisfactorily account for.
