NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday announced that the party plans to introduce a scheme offering free electricity and water for tenants if it secures victory in upcoming
Delhi assembly elections.
During a press conference, Kejriwal stated that tenants have been unable to access the free electricity and water scheme for several reasons. He emphasised that tenants are also part of Delhi’s population, and the AAP will extend these benefits to them.
"Wherever I go, I meet people living on rent who say they benefit from good schools and hospitals but are deprived of free electricity and water schemes," Kejriwal said.
The announcement comes as the Aam Aadmi Party intensifies its campaign for the Delhi assembly elections scheduled for February 5, with results set to be announced on February 8.
Aiming for a third consecutive term, the AAP has centered its campaign on its welfare programs, highlighting free utilities and enhanced public services as its key achievements.
