Three juveniles held for firing outside businessman’s house

New Delhi: Three juveniles have been apprehended for firing several rounds outside a businessman’s house in northeast Delhi’s Kabir Nagar on Friday after he refused to pay the “protection money” demanded by them, police said.Following a PCR call, police found that the victim ran a garment shop in the area and was being pressured by one of the minors (16) for a monthly protection amount of Rs 10,000 if he wanted to continue doing his business,” said a police official. However, when the businessman did not pay heed to the demand, the minors attempted to barge into his residence, broke a glass bottle at the entrance gate, and demanded that the victim open the gate and talk to them.“After the victim refused to open the gate, the trio fired several rounds in the air. They also traced down the victim’s nephew, who also worked at the shop, and roughed him up before fleeing the scene,” police said.A case of extortion and an attempt to murder was registered at the Welcome police station, and the minors were sent to a juvenile facility. A hunt is on for the other accused.
