NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party's Surya Prakash Khatri won the seat with a margin of 1168 votes. He defeated Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) Surinder Pal Singh and Congress' Lokendra Kalyan Singh.
In the assembly election, Khatri received 55941 votes, while Surinder Pal Singh got 54773 votes. Congress played a mere spectator role in this match.
According to early trends, AAP's Surinder Pal Singh of AAP took lead but after few hours the data changed and Khatri took the lead.
Timarpur is one of the 70 assembly constituencies in Delhi. It falls under the North East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency.
Designated as a general category seat, Timarpur is situated in the central Delhi district and is one of the 10 assembly segments that make up the North East Delhi parliamentary constituency.
In the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, Dilip Pandey of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) emerged victorious, defeating Surinder Pal Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by a margin of 24,144 votes.
