NEW DELHI: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Wednesday achieved a significant milestone in its Phase 4 expansion on Golden Line, completing an underground tunnel at Vasant Kunj station on the Tughlakabad-Aerocity corridor.
Delhi Metro's Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) broke at Vasant Kunj station being built under Phase 4.
The development comes as part of the 26km Golden Line, which will significantly enhance connectivity in Delhi and ease travel for commuters.
Union minister Manohar Lal Khattar attended the tunnel breakthrough ceremony, expressing his gratitude to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and all officials involved in the project.
He highlighted the importance of the Golden Line, particularly the interchange facility at Chhattarpur Metro Station, which will allow seamless connections between the Golden Line and other metro routes.
The new line will also benefit residents from neighboring Gurugram, who will be able to conveniently board the Golden Line at Chhattarpur.
As part of the approved Phase 4 expansion, DMRC is constructing 40.109km of underground lines, with the Aerocity-Tughlakabad corridor accounting for 19.343km, the statement said.
