NEW DELHI: In a significant breakthrough, the Shahdara Cyber Police Station apprehended a Chinese national, Fang Chenjin, in connection with a major cyber fraud case.

The accused allegedly cheated numerous individuals of over Rs 43.5 lakhs through online stock trading scams orchestrated via WhatsApp groups.

According to the police, Fang Chenjin's arrest revealed his involvement in a larger web of cybercrime. Further investigation linked him to two other significant fraud cases in Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, involving money laundering and cybercrime.

Moreover, a staggering 17 criminal complaints were registered on the Cyber Crime Portal, all of which are connected to the same Fincare Bank account. The total amount defrauded in these cases exceeds a whopping Rs 100 crores.
The police are continuing their investigation, and more details are expected to emerge.

DCP Shahdara, Prashant Gautam, confirmed the arrest and assured that the authorities are working tirelessly to unravel the complex web of cybercrime and bring the perpetrators to justice.
