GURGAON: A TTE was booked for attempted murder after he allegedly pushed a woman off a moving train in Faridabad because she had boarded the AC-1 coach while carrying a ticket for the general compartment.

Bhavna Devi (40) got trapped between the coach and the platform, and was rescued by her 17-year-old daughter and other passengers at the Faridabad station.

Devi, wife of a labourer based in the NCR city, was operated on for fractures in both legs and is recovering at the ESIC Hospital. Her condition is stable.

The TTE is absconding.

Police said on Monday that the incident occurred on Feb 29 when Devi went to the railway station to take a train to Jhansi to attend a relative’s wedding.

She bought a general coach ticket at 12.15pm, but boarded AC-1 coach of Jhelum Express. In her complaint, she said that the travelling ticket examiner (TTE) asked her to get off the coach.

“As the train was about to move, I requested him to let me stay till the train reached the next station. I showed him my ticket and offered to pay the fine. But he became angry and warned me that he would push me out if I didn’t get off. I again requested him as the train started moving. He threw my bag and luggage outside, and pushed me off the moving train,” Devi said.

The complaint added that the TTE pushed her with the “intention to kill”.

Police said they registered an FIR at the Government Railway station against the TTE under IPC Section 307 (attempt to murder).
