No radiologist, hospital gets notice as ultrasound done by staffer in UP's Khoda
The health department along with administration officials took action by sealing the ultrasound machine and served the hospital manager a notice demanding an explanation within seven days.
Umesh Gupta, legal health official of Pre-Conception and Prenatal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) said, “We received information that, at NCR Hospital of Khoda, ultrasound examination was being conducted by someone else instead of the radiologist. When we reached the hospital Wajida Tabassum was performing an ultrasound in place of Dr Anubhav Chaubey. Tabassum does not have any medical degree.”
Gupta added that the centre has been warned against tampering with the sealed machine.
According to officials, four such incidents have been reported in the district this year, and action was taken following the sealing of the machine. There are 369 registered USG centres in Ghaziabad.
“As per the Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques guidelines, all radiologists/sonologists/doctors using USG machines need to have their names entered in the PC-PNDT certificate or on a separate sheet that must be displayed along with the PC-PNDT registration certificate. These doctors should be qualified to perform ultrasound according to their degree/ diploma certificate,” Gupta explained.
