PANAJI: The Corporation of the City of

Panaji

(

CCP

) and the Croatian city of

Dubrovnik

have signed an agreement and decided to cooperate in areas of smart mobility, including smart parking and social and civic awareness.

CCP commissioner Sanjit

Rodrigues

said the two proposals are not finance-heavy and added that they can be implemented through CSR funds or private contractors, but will make a large impact on the city.

The technology of smart

pay-parking

will be used in the future on a pilot-basis in one area of the city, he said, adding that the pay-parking project has already been tendered for the city. “We have prepared a joint action plan after working out broad parameters in the areas of smart mobility and public awareness. They will provide us with the documents and all technology,” commissioner Sanjit Rodrigues told reporters on Monday.

A team of six representatives from CCP, including the commissioner, mayor and deputy mayor, have returned from a visit to Dubrovnik under the European Union’s International Urban Cooperation (IUC) programme to boost sustainable urban development between European cities and partner cities in Asia, and North and South America. The European Union under the programme is supporting 12 Indian cities, under which Panaji was paired with Dubrovnik because both cities are small and tourist-destinations.
