Patkar has contested against BJP's Nilesh Cabral who is seeking a third term in office. Addressing reporters, Patkar said that the repair and renovation work of the community health centre, Cacora, has been lying incomplete for the last six years, causing untold hardships to people in need of medical care. “Our endeavor will be to make services of consultant doctors available at the hospital at all times,” he said.

Construction of a modern bus stand with a multilevel parking facility, Patkar said, would help in easing the problems of parking and traffic congestion in the town.

As regards the rehabilitation of traders, Patkar said “We will ensure that the traders are properly rehabilitated,” he said.

Referring to complaints over excessive water bills, Patkar said the issues pertaining to “wrong billing” would be rectified once the Congress government if formed.

“My enquiries revealed that PWD engineers were given oral instructions by the government not to issue water bills before elections, as they feared that people’s uproar over huge bills would affect them during the polls,” Patkar said.
