Electricity dept attaches firm’s property for not paying dues

Panaji: The electricity department has passed an order to attach the property of Twenty First Century Iron & Steel Pvt Ltd at Dhargal, Pernem, for defaulting on payment of dues towards its electricity connection.

The department said that the company, with a high tension connection, owed the department Rs 2.7 crore, which was to be recovered as arrears of land revenue under the provisions of the Goa Land Revenue Code, 1968. Revenue recovery officer William J Barreto, executive engineer, div-XVII, Mapusa, prohibited and restrained the company from transferring the property, admeasuring 23,000sqm, by sale, gift, or otherwise, until further orders.

The department also prohibited the public from receiving the property by purchase, gift, or otherwise.
