Fake police officers rob fish delivery driver of Rs 5L

Margao: Two persons posing as police officers robbed a fish delivery driver of Rs 5 lakh on the national highway at Sirlim, Salcete. Shridhar Moger from Murudeshwar, Uttar Kannada, was driving his vehicle when he was stopped by the impostors at 9.40am on Wednesday. The two men claimed to be police officers and proceeded to search his van, stating they were looking for narcotic substances.
Finding nothing incriminating, the impostors then accused Moger of driving under the influence of alcohol. They held Moger's face, ostensibly to check if he was inebriated. Taking advantage of the situation, they laid their hands on approximately Rs 5 lakh under the passenger side seat before fleeing the scene.
Moger told the police that he realised he was deceived only after they fled with the money. He immediately filed a complaint at the Margao town police station.
The case was registered at Margao town police station.
