Goa Football Association to promote refereeing

“GFA has done a lot of work for players and coaches and now the focus has turned to refereeing. Refereeing can be considered a career today and there are a lot of opportunities in the Indian Super League and I-League,” GFA president
The association conducts over 1,000 official matches, besides another 1,000 matches in recognized Inter-Village tournaments.
“Since colleges have recently started, we are also approaching the students to take up refereeing. We will first teach them the 17 Laws of the Game in the two-day theory sessions which will be followed by practicals,” said match commissioner Anthony John D’Costa.
The referees are currently paid a minimum of Rs 300 per game and it gets higher as per the level of competition.
