In Betki, woman and son crushed by falling tree

PONDA: Gusty winds that hit the state as a result of the extremely severe cyclonic storm Biparyjoy in the Arabian Sea claimed two lives, that of a mother and her son, at Betki-Khandola after a tree came crashing down on them on Sunday evening.

Anjali Wadker, 36, and her son Bhavesh, 10, were in a shed outside their house where water was being heated for a bath when a huge tree came crashing down on it, said Mardol PI Mohan Gaude.

Locals rushed to their aid after hearing the loud sound of the tree collapsing. Mother and son were taken to the Betki primary health centre, where they were declared brought dead, said Gaude.
