Ponda council chief says his sign forged to issue income certificate
Ponda: The chief officer of Ponda Municipal Council (PMC), Yogiraj Gosavi, has filed a police complaint after he got to know that his signature was forged to issue an income certificate.
Gosavi told reporters that he was surprised to find his signature which he never made. “This incident has brought to our notice that such attempts are going on in the council and I have asked the Ponda police to investigate the issue,” Gosavi said.
He said that he came to know about the forged signature after a Silvanagar resident submitted the certificate on Friday, which was reportedly issued in Nov, to avail another income certificate.
Stating that the certificate is as per the actual format of the certificates being issued by the PMC, Gosavi said that it was not clear who issued the certificate and who forged the signature.
The chief officer said that he lodged a police complaint immediately after he came to know about the alleged forgery. The alleged forged certificate was sought for the nursing institute of the Goa Medical College at Bambolim to avail educational facility for his daughter.
Admitting that they have received a complaint from the council, the Ponda police said that they have written to the GMC to convey whether the student has used the certificate to avail the scholastic benefits or not.
