Port’s cruise terminal to be ready by Oct

Panaji: The Mormugao Port Authority’s cruise terminal, which was slated for completion by March, is running behind schedule and is now expected to be ready by Oct, said MPA officials. The Rs 101.7 crore international and domestic cruise terminal, spanning 9,960sqm, should be operational for the next tourist season.

“The terminal structure will be completed, and once the structure is completed, we have the internal fittings. We have already identified the vendor who will do the internal preparation for immigration and all the internal work,” said MPA chairman N Vinodkumar. “Three to four months are required, so we expect this to be ready by the beginning of the next season, that is Aug or Sep of this year. We expect that it will be operational by then.”

The terminal will generate employment for around 3,000 people, including personnel in operations, baggage handling, handicrafts, taxi operations, and restaurants.
