Propaganda on Dabolim airport won’t work: Mauvin

Vasco: Transport minister Mauvin Godinho on Thursday said propaganda about the Dabolim airport turning into a ‘ghost airport’ will never succeed as it handles more passengers than Manohar International Airport at Mopa.

Godinho, who was speaking after hoisting the Tricolour at a Liberation Day function organised by the Mormugao deputy collector near Jogger’s Park at Chicalim, said the Navy is cooperating in ensuring smooth operations at Dabolim airport.

“The Naval authorities have relaxed NOTAM timings to accommodate civilian flights. Both airports will continue to operate to sustain the state’s tourism economy,” said Godinho.

He also said that state govt has created several infrastructure projects and is striving to bring in more projects that can improve quality of life. “Govt is looking to make Goa one of the best states in India,” said Godinho even as he urged the people to work together towards this cause.
