Rs 100cr development works launched for IDC’s estates
Panaji: Goa Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) on Tuesday decided to undertake infrastructure development works in industrial estates across the state, amounting to Rs 100 crore, to provide better facilities to industries.
IDC held a board meeting and discussed various issues to be addressed. IDC has already started the white topping of roads at the Pilerne industrial estate. The chairman of IDC, Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, said that his first goal was to make IDC debt-free, which he was able to achieve, and his second target was to create infrastructure at industrial estates.
“We have decided to undertake infrastructure work exceeding Rs 100 crore, including sewage plants, solid waste management systems, and effluent treatment plants, among other projects,” Lourenco said. “All tenders are ready and will be floated soon. This is the first time that such a massive infrastructure work will be undertaken at industrial estates in the state. ”
IDC received many complaints from industries about the lack of proper infrastructure in Goa. “We will undertake so much infrastructure work that nobody will be able to complain,” Lourenco said. “Major works will be completed by March, and some work will spill over after the monsoon.”
Lourenco said that IDC will undertake the white topping of roads for the first time. “White topping is done in a systematic manner, and we have followed the all-India process. The way Union minister Nitin Gadkari is doing it on national highways, the same will be done at our industrial estates.” He added, “No road will be damaged, and the roads will have a 25-year guarantee.”
