Schools told to have panels to answer students’ queries: Goa Board

Panaji: Chairman of Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Bhagirath Shetye, said that schools have been asked to form committees to answer to any queries from parents and students. He also said that students will be allowed to apply for any two from verification of photocopy of answersheet, re-evaluation of answerbooks, and verification of marks in absentia.
“A committee will attend to queries of students at the school level. Schools have been asked to constitute a committee of three members with at least one woman member to advise the students and the parents on any queries pertaining to results, verification of marks etc,” Shetye said.
He said that institutes have been told that if any counsellor is available in the school, then he or she should also be included to assist the committee members.
“Students should also note that if one applies for verified photocopy and/or re-evaluation he/she is not permitted to apply for verification of marks in absentia. They can apply for any two, as there is no point in applying for all three means of verification/re-evaluation. Schools are required to pay the fees for these applications through the board’s website.
School head should inform students that under verified photocopy facility the total marks and any unassessed answers will be verified. If unassessed answers are found the same will be sent for revaluation without additional fees,” said Shetye. However, students may apply for re-evaluation if desires after obtaining photocopy before the lapse of last date for re-evaluation, he said.
The board said that the last date to apply for verified photocopy of the answer-book and for verification of marks in absentia is April 15, while for re-evaluation of answersheets, it is April 19.
