GSIDC allocated Rs 2.8 crore for the construction of the central monument, while an additional Rs 2 crore will be spent on designing and installing murals and statues at the site. Officials set a four-month deadline for the completion of the first phase.

The new memorial is a redesign of the existing structure and is intended to offer visitors a deeper understanding of Goa’s fight for freedom. Plans include dedicated information spaces that will narrate the history of the Satyagraha movement and the sacrifices made by martyrs and activists.

According to GSIDC officials, the memorial will be designed to provide a “larger-than-life immersive experience,” ensuring that visitors leave with a lasting impression of Goa’s struggle for independence.

Patradevi, a historically significant site, was a key entry point for satyagrahis during Goa’s liberation movement. The upgraded memorial is expected to serve as an educational and commemorative space, attracting students, historians, and tourists alike.

The project is part of a broader effort to preserve and promote Goa’s freedom struggle, ensuring that future generations remain connected to its history.
