‘1 week too short’:HSSC portal to update list of preferences shut
Only 1.3 lakh candidates were able to fill their preferences during the one-week window. Around 300 candidates lodged complaints with HSSC claiming that the time period was very less compared to the number of candidates .
An applicant had to write their serial number in Roman in front of the category of posts, take a print-out, self-attest it and then upload it on the website. Candidates claimed that the data uploaded earlier on the portal could not be edited as they were locked. Similarly, after selecting a preference they were not allowed to go back and make a correction.
Who were other candidates?
Dr Vijaykumar Srivastava, Dr Jagannath Patil, and Dr Manoj Dixit were shortlisted as candidates for the vice-chancellor position at M S University. The search committee, headed by Dr Ajay Ranka, CEO of Zydex Industries Ltd, found that both Patil and Dixit had more experience than Srivastava. Meanwhile, a professor at Gujarat University has accused her department head of harassment, and a retired professor from Kabul University is selling clothes on the streets due to unpaid pensions. Afghanistan's economy has collapsed since the Taliban's return to power, resulting in widespread hardship.
