’ a successful campaign and the departments have been given a target to plant around 1.96 lakh saplings in the district.

The meeting has been held under the chairmanship of Kurukshetra deputy commissioner (DC) SS Phulia.

The administration has taken an important decision with this campaign, all the central and state government officials, people’s representatives, social work organisations and general public will work together for success of Jal Shakti campaign.

The officials said a special plan has been drawn for Kurukshetra with the motive to develop Jal Shakti campaign as a movement towards conserving and saving water. Under this plan, around 1.96 lakh plants; 9,825 showcase pits, four farm ponds and ten community ponds will be developed in Kurukshetra.

DC Phulia said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar have worked for the water conservation campaign to save water and rain water in the country and the state.

Focus on five points
Under Jal Shakti campaign the focus will be kept on five points including conservation of water and rain water harvesting, restoration of traditional water resources and ponds, reuse of borewell for water recharge, to develop watershed management, and intensive afforestation.

The work will be done in two phases, the work for the first phase will be done till July 15, and the second phase will start from October 10 to November 30.

All the concerned officials will have to work together as a team within the allotted time period and efforts will be made to implement drip and spray irrigation systems.
