Gurugram: Executive arrested for murdering wife

GURUGRAM: A day after a senior executive of a private firm allegedly pushed his banker wife to death, he was arrested on charge of murder and remanded in two-day police custody on Monday.

, had filed a complaint, alleging that her husband Vikram Chouhan pushed her off the eighth floor of their Ansal Valley View flat, hours after the couple had a quarrel on Saturday. The investigators on Monday re-created the scene at the flat to understand if Deepika fell off the flat’s balcony or was she pushed to her death. According to police, after multiple rounds interrogation, Vikram insisted that he had not pushed his wife off the balcony. Deepika’s father Ahuja had alleged that the couple had got into altercations several times in the past over Vikram’s relationship with a woman in the same society.

Inspector Sanjeev, the SHO of DLF 1 police station, said Vikram had not admitted that he had pushed his wife to death despite being grilled by the interrogators several times after his arrest. “During the two-day police remand, we will further interrogate him to extract more details,” he said. The police are examining details of the calls Vikram had made on that day. They are also trying to find out what triggered the quarrel between them on Saturday night. According to Deepika’s father, the 32-year-old Indian Bank official observed fast on Karva Chauth, but met her end hours after the spat with Vikram. During the questioning, Vikram admitted that he had an argument with his wife after he reached late on Saturday but denied that he had pushed her off the balcony. Police are probing if Vikram has been in a relationship with another woman as alleged by Deepika’s father.

“The victim’s family had made certain allegations, and we are verifying the facts,” said a police officer.

The police team that went to Ansal Valley View on Monday also recorded statements of residents and security guards. According to police, Deepika’s brother also lives in the same society.
