Gurgaon’s maximum temperature drops by 5°C after strong winds and drizzle

Gurgaon: Strong winds swept through Gurgaon on Thursday evening, kicking up dust and bringing light drizzle to isolated parts of the city, as temperatures dropped sharply from the intense heat recorded earlier this week.

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD) data, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 36.4 degrees Celsius (°C) at the civic observatory and 36.2°C at the AWS station, nearly 5°C lower than the previous day. The minimum temperature settled at 22°C, 4.7°C below normal for this time of year.

Residents reported brief spells of light drizzle in some areas, though no significant rainfall was recorded at the city’s observatories.

Across Haryana, the average maximum temperature fell by 3.8°C compared with Wednesday. Bhiwani remained the hottest place in the state at 45°C, followed by Rohtak at 44.5°C and Faridabad’s Bopani station at 44.2°C. Ambala recorded the state’s lowest minimum temperature at 21.4°C.

The weather shift comes amid IMD forecasts of thunderstorms over parts of Haryana under the influence of a western disturbance. Similar conditions are expected to persist on Friday.

IMD’s forecast for the city predicted a partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers, with temperatures likely to range between 22°C and 40°C.

Officials said the windy conditions brought temporary relief from the scorching heat that had pushed temperatures close to 40°C in the region. However, humidity levels are expected to rise following the drizzle, which could keep daytime conditions uncomfortable despite the drop in temperature.
