Gurgaon: A 45-year-old man died allegedly by suicide at M3M Avenue 65 mall in Sector 65 on Saturday evening, with police suspecting a marital discord may have led to the extreme step.
The deceased, Nishant, was a resident of Emaar Emerald Hills in Sector 65. Police said he had recently returned to India from the United States, where he was employed. He was staying with his parents and sister.
The incident took place around 7.30pm on May 2, when Sector 65 police received information. A team reached the spot and found the man with critical injuries. He was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead, an officer said.
The body was sent for autopsy at a govt hospital and later handed over to the family. Police have initiated inquest proceedings and are recording statements of family members to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident.
During preliminary inquiry, investigators found that Nishant had been married for around 12 years and both he and his wife were working abroad. “He was under mental stress due to the marital dispute,” an officer said.
