Worked for Nuh same way I’ve worked for Karnal: CM
Nuh: In a major outreach programme in Nuh, which was hit by communal riots last July, chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Saturday unveiled two statues, of Mahatma Gandhi and a Mewati icon, and announced development projects worth Rs 700 crore for the district that borders Gurgaon.Saying he has carried on with work in Nuh just as he has for Karnal, his home constituency, Khattar assured comprehensive development initiatives in all three assembly constituencies of the region. He accused previous regimes of exploiting people of Nuh “as a vote bank and neglecting their welfare”.He said Haryana CMs would have hardly visited Nuh 5-6 times, but Saturday was his 11th visit to the district in the nine years since he took office. “In these nine years, development work worth Rs 5,000 crore has been carried out in the region, even though our candidates don’t win from here,” he said. The CM unveiled the Gandhi statue at Ghasera, the village which the Mahatma visited after Partition to appeal to local Muslims not to migrate to Pakistan. At Badkali Chowk, the CM unveiled the statue of Hasan Khan Mewati, the Mewat ruler who fought Mughal emperor Babar as part of the Rajput alliance.Govt has declared Hasan Khan a martyr and declared a state holiday on March 15, which it will mark as ‘Balidan Diwas’. The 15-foot-tall statue has been crafted by Rajasthani sculptor Naresh Kumawat. It depicts Khan seated on a horse, spear in one hand and a sword hanging from his waist. The CM announced several initiatives, including the establishment of a ‘Shaheed Raja Hasan Khan Mewati’ research chair at Hasan Khan Mewati Medical College in Nuh. He also announced govt will form a five-member committee chaired by former MLA and state waqf board chairman Zakir Hussain to oversee development projects in Nuh.“The Mewat region is known for the bond between two communities and people of the region cherish their common heritage,” the CM said, cautioning against external elements seeking to disrupt the unity between Mewat’s communities. “The youth should draw inspiration from Hassan Khan Mewati who sacrificed his life for the nation,” Khattar said. The CM also appealed for support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, affirming his commitment to fulfilling all of “Modi ki guarantees”.Khattar said Nuh, which has 135 madrassas, will get the benefits of modern education if they are registered with the Haryana School Education Board. “Madrassas will receive financial assistance on registration. Madrassas opting for modern education through the board will receive Rs 2 lakh to Rs 7 lakh a year, depending on the number of students,” the CM said. The CM also said the 100-bed Al-Afia District Hospital in Mandikhera will be upgraded to a 200-bed facility and govt will conduct surveys to establish health centres in villages and towns within the next six months.
