Itanagar: The Arunachal cabinet chaired by CM Pema Khandu on Thursday approved a series of policy decisions spanning healthcare, public safety, education, urban governance, environment protection and employment generation.
In healthcare, the cabinet approved engaging HLL Lifecare Ltd, a Govt of India enterprise, to create diagnostic infrastructure in 256 sub-centres, 82 primary health centres, 25 community health centres and 64 block public health units.
The cabinet also approved procurement of 40 mobile medical units (MMUs) under the vibrant villages programme. The MMUs will serve 455 vibrant villages across 11 border districts.
On public safety, the cabinet approved a proposal to enact the Arunachal Pradesh Fire and Emergency Services Bill, 2025, replacing the existing 1991 Act, to modernise the department’s legal and operational framework.
To strengthen prison administration, the council of ministers approved creation of 91 posts for seven sub-jails at Longding, Khonsa, Changlang, Pasighat, Yingkiong, Aalo and Koloriang.
In education, the cabinet approved creation of 58 posts, including 14 administrative, non-teaching and teaching posts and 32 assistant professor posts, for the govt model degree colleges at Piyong in Namsai district and Kanubari in Longding district to start academic activities.
For urban governance, the cabinet approved creation of a directorate of urban local bodies.
In the forest and environment sector, the cabinet approved a one-time relaxation of residency requirements under the Arunachal Pradesh Forest Service Rules, 2019, to allow immediate promotions against existing vacancies without additional financial burden.
The cabinet further approved Recruitment Rules for the Special Tiger Protection Force for Pakke, Namdapha and Kamlang Tiger Reserves, facilitating recruitment to 324 posts of special tiger guards to strengthen wildlife protection and anti-poaching efforts under Project Tiger and generate employment for local youth.
