GUWAHATI: The Congress on Tuesday announced the names of its candidates for four Lok Sabha constituencies in Assam. The list includes the name of former additional chief secretary MGVK Bhanu who will contest polls from Tezpur.

A 1985 batch IAS officer from Andhra Pradesh, Bhanu served as additional chief secretary to former chief minister Tarun Gogoi and later as special secretary to late Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Rajasekharan.

Congress has also fielded its chief whip in the Rajya Sabha, Bhubaneswar Kalita, from Mangaldai. Former minister in the Tarun Gogoi ministry, Pradyut Bordoloi, has been fielded from Nagaon and Anil Borgohain from Lakhimpur.

In its first list, the party had named sitting MP Gaurav Gogoi from Kaliabor, All India Mhalia Congress president and sitting MP Sushmita Deb (Silchar), Swarup Das (Karimganj), former MLA Sushanta Borgohain (Jorhat) and former Union minister Paban Singh Ghatowar from Dibrugarh.
