GUWAHATI: Assam Congress working president Rana Goswami resigned from his post and the party’s primary membership on Wednesday, marking the departure of two of the state PCC’s three working presidents ahead of upcoming Lok Sabha polls, reports Kangkan Kalita. Goswami, a close aide of former CM Tarun Gogoi, is reportedly poised to join BJP.

Earlier, legislator Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha stepped down as working president, pledging support to BJPled govt. Another MLA, Basanta Das, also threw his support behind Himanta’s govt without resigning from Congress.
Following his resignation, Goswami hurried to New Delhi, where he hinted at making an announcement about his "new political innings”
