BJP forms strategic committees to gear up for polls

Guwahati: BJP in Assam has pulled up its socks for the panchayat elections scheduled for May, with a focus on strengthening its base before the assembly elections next year.The saffron party constituted two crucial committees to prepare for the upcoming elections in the state. The party formed a panchayat election management committee and a manifesto drafting committee to ensure a well-organised electoral strategy.The 16-member panchayat election management committee will be led by Assam minister Pijush Hazarika as its convenor. This committee will oversee the overall election management and coordination of campaign activities across the state.For the manifesto drafting committee, which consists of 13 members, Assam minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass was appointed as the convenor. The committee includes several prominent BJP leaders, including Union minister of state for external affairs Pabitra Margherita, Assam minister Jayanta Malla Baruah and MPs Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, Parimal Suklabaidya, Ranjit Dutta and Rameswar Teli.To strengthen the party's electoral machinery at the grassroots level, BJP also appointed district in-charges and co-in-charges to supervise various aspects of the election process in their respective areas.Furthermore, state BJP president Dilip Saikia announced the formation of a core committee for the upcoming Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) elections. This committee includes CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, Dilip Saikia himself and state cabinet ministers Ranjeet Kumar Dass, Ashok Singhal, Pijush Hazarika, Jayanta Malla Barua and Kaushik Rai.These strategic appointments demonstrate BJP's comprehensive preparation for both the Panchayat and BTR elections.
