City to host NFICI meet tomorrow

Guwahati: Assam Information Commission will host the 14th annual general body meeting and the 32nd board of governors of the National Federation of Information Commissions in India (NFICI) meeting in Guwahati on Tuesday.Assam governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya will inaugurate the event at 11 AM on Tuesday in Khanapara.The Central Chief Information Commissioner on Jan 12, 2009, constituted a sub-committee to study, analyse, explore ways and suggest an action plan for effective implementation of the RTI Act, 2005. On the recommendations of the sub-committee, the Federation of Central Information Commission and all the state information commissions was constituted. Thereafter, it was registered as NFICI on Sept 1, 2009.Assam Information Commission, in a statement, said the basic objective of the NFICI is to facilitate coordination and mutual consultation among the central and state information commissions.
