Rhino poacher arrested, ammo seized

GUWAHATI: Police have nabbed a

rhino poacher

, identified as

Bikash Das

, from

Balipukhuri in Biswanath district

, some 250 km from here, on Tuesday. Das was allegedly involved in the

killing of a rhino

near

Kaziranga National Park

in 2014.

Police said Das, who is from Dani village, was part of a poaching racket. "He was wanted for a long time. Earlier, four of his partners, Muhikanto Hazarika, Chandan Das, Pipil Das and Hemanta Bhuyan, were arrested."

Police also seized ammunition from his possession. On Monday, Kaziranga forest staff and police arrested six persons from Bohikhuwa village in Golaghat district.
