has written to railway minister Suresh
Prabhu seeking direct train services between
Agartala
and Kolkata before Durga Puja.
Talking to the media here on Friday, Dey said
Northeast Frontier Railway
(NFR) officials had indicated last week that they would start direct train services between the two state capitals but nothing had been announced so far.
"Once again, I have requested Prabhu for direct train services between Agartala and Kolkata before Durga Puja to fulfil people's aspirations," he said. "Since the people of Tripura need to travel to Kolkata often, we want the railway minister to start direct railway link immediately," he added.
NFR officials said they had already taken up the issue with the ministry and were ready to start train services between Agartala and Kolkata. The proposal was under the active consideration of the minister, they added.
