lass Shruti Prakash is already emerging as one of the most popular contestants on the show. Thanks to her good looks, the 24-year-old is also being called the new crush of Karnataka.

The multi-talented Shruti is an actor and singer; she’s starred in TV shows

Saath Nibhana Sathiya

and Radha Hi Bawari, and has sung cover songs like Hawayein (Jab Harry Met Sejal) and

Ye Tumhari Meri Baatein

(Rock On!!). While she may be a star in her own right, people in Belagavi remember her a little differently.

Shruti, who belongs to an army family, did her schooling at the army school and at Kendriya Vidyalayas in Patiala, Bikaner, Babina, Tezpur, Ahmednagar and Ballari, since her father, an army officer, was posted at various army bases across country. However, Shruti did PUC and graduation in Business Management at her hometown, Belagavi — at Jain College and People Tree College, respectively.



Shruti secured her place in the Bigg Boss house for her celebrity status, but back home, people know her as a sportsperson. Shruti is good badminton player and has played at the State level. She secured University Blue (top title for sportspersons given by

Rani Channamma University

) two times in 2013-14. Not just this, she was a house captain in school and has won many singing titles.

Former Ranji player Milind Chavan, who was Shruti’s physical instructor in college, says, “Shruti was a very good badminton player and was a role model for many students. I am proud that my student is in the Bigg Boss house and I wish that she emerges the winner.”

Speaking about her participation in the reality show, Shruti’s father, Lt. Col. VC Prakash, who retired from the army after 23 years of service, told Belgaum Times, “I was amazed when I heard that Shruti was going to participate in

Kannada

Bigg Boss. Although our mother tongue is Kannada, Shruti faces difficulties while speaking Kannada since she has friends who speak Hindi, English and Marathi. As a family, we don’t watch too much TV, so we haven’t watched the earlier instalments of the show, but since Shruti has been in the house, we have not missed a single episode.”

Lt. Col. Prakash clarifies that although in Shruti’s introduction on the show it was mentioned that she was born in Belagavi, Shruti was, in fact, born in Rourki. But, he adds, she has spent most of her life in Belagavi.
