Gruha Jyothi launched in Belagavi
Belagavi/Haveri/Ballari: Satish Jarkiholi, minister of public works, launched the state government’s ambitious ‘Gruha Jyothi’ scheme for the district level, at Kumar Gandharva Kalamandir in the city, on Saturday. On the occasion, he said that state government’s guarantee schemes are complementary for self-reliant living.After launching the ‘Gruha Jyothi’, a guaranteed scheme of state government providing free electricity up to 200 units to every household connection and distributing zero electricity bills to the beneficiaries, minister Satish Jarkiholi said that, the government will give Rs 516 crore to Belagavi district every year for Gruha Jyothi scheme. Rs 4,000 to Rs 5,000 will be spent on each family per month through guarantee schemes. “The money saved thus should be used for children's education and family maintenance. Only then, the government's guarantee schemes will be effective,” he said.“Government has done as promised by implementing the scheme. Other guarantee schemes such as Gruha Lakshmi, Shakti, Anna Bhagya and Yuvanidhi schemes are being implemented within specific time. The chief minister has proved that our government is pro-poor by implementing the schemes smoothly. Public should make good use of them,” Jarkiholi added.More than 10 lakh customers in Belagavi will get the benefit of the scheme and so far 80% of the customers have registered under the scheme, he informed.The government will implement more schemes in the coming days. Such a huge amount of money allocated by the government should be put to good use. Since the money ofbeing spent by the government is people’s money, it should be used properly, Jarkiholi appealed. MLC Channaraj Hattiholi said that the government has fulfilled its promises by implementing three guarantee schemes in just three months.Belagavi North MLA Asif (Raju) Sait said that the government has implemented guarantee schemes for the welfare of the poor. “The public should make make the most of these schemes. The government will bear the cost of Rs 45 crore every month in Belagavi district for the implementation of Gruha Jyothi Yojana. Such projects are being implemented because of the government’s pro-poor leaning,” he opined.Chief engineer V Prakash said that 2.20 crore consumers in the state and 10.65 lakh consumers in Belagavi district will get the benefit of this project. The registration process has been done briskly everywhere and the benefit of the scheme will be delivered to all those eligible, he added.MLAs Babasaheb Patil and Vishwas Vaidya, deputy commissioner Nitesh Patil, ZP CEO Hershal Boyer, BCC commissioner Ashok Dudgunti, Hescom general manager Siddu Hulloli and superintendent engineer Praveen Kumar were present.In HaveriShivanand Patil, minister for textiles, sugarcane development and director of sugar, agriculture marketing and in charge of Haveri district handed over zero electricity bills to beneficiaries in Byadagi on Saturday. “As many as 3,53,803 beneficiaries have been registered under Gruha Jyothi scheme and 87 per cent of registration has been completed. The state government has implemented the guarantees that were made before the election,” he added.Interacting with media persons here on Saturday, he said an investigation will be conducted regarding the increased expenditure of government medical colleges, but we should not stop the construction works in these medical colleges and the staff salaries will also be released. “CM and medical education minister will decide the if the case is to be handed over to SIT or not. Physical works of new government medical colleges will continue even with the investigation going on,” the minister clarified.Minister Patil also welcomed the apex court’s decision to stay the conviction of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the defamation case. Political parties can be wrong but courts are not impacted by their acts, he said.In BallariB Nagendra, minister for youth empowerment, sports and tribal welfare, who is also Ballari district in-charge, said the government has implemented five guarantee schemes, but BJP members are not tolerating this. “There is no dispute between legislators in Ballari district. all legislators are putting efforts into making Ballari a model district in the state. Sandur MLA E Tukaram is like Dharmaraya, leading us Pandavas for the development of Balalri district,” the minister remarked.
