Hubballi: The Dharwad zilla Kuruhinashetti Abhivrudhi Sangh (R) in Hubballi and the Kuruhinashetti Kendra Sangh (R), Bengaluru, will organise a state-level bride and groom convention in Hubballi on December 24. Mallikarjun Kalabhavi, the president of the Dharwad district Sangh, said that more than 1,000 brides and grooms are expected to participate. In the presence of Shivashankar Shivacharya Mahaswamiji of Neelakanthamath in Old Hubballi the function will be held. Union minister Pralhad Joshi, former chief minister Jagadish Shettar will attend the program and Mallikarjn Ronad will preside over the function, he added.
Bodybuilders complain about dist assnHubballi: The Dharwad District Bodybuilders’ Association is not protecting the interest of the bodybuilders and not working to promote bodybuilding in the district, a section of bodybuilders, gym owners and trainers have alleged. On Wednesday, Krishna Chikkatumbal, a senior bodybuilder, said that the district association has not helped anyone compete at the state, national and international levels. He urged the Karnataka State Bodybuilders’ Association to take action to remove the officebearers.
Don’t implement Sadashiva report, says orgHubballi: The Karnataka Rajya Korama, Koracha, Bhovi, Banjara, Meesalati Samrakshana Horata Samiti will hold a Belagavi Chalo protest on December 22. On Wednesday, Pandurang Pammar of the Horata Samiti said that the Sadashiva Commission report on the internal redistribution of quotas was unscientific and should be rejected, he urged. He said internal reservation was unconstitutional. The report will create confusions among Scheduled Caste communities, he said.

Cry to raise cane pricesHubballi: Kurbur Shantkumar of the Rajya Kabbu Belegarar Sangh has said that if the price of sugarcane does not increase by December 23, a Suvarna Soudha Jatha protest will be held in Dharwad on December 26. He said on Wednesday that CM Bommai had in a meeting agreed to increase the sugarcane FRP rate and reduce the transportation cost of labour. A decision should be taken on these lines before Farmers' Day on December 23, he added.
