Truck laden with cylinders overturns

Belagavi: A truck carrying hydrogen cylinders overturned on the Pune-Bengaluru National Highway (NH4) near Nippani on Friday morning. Truck driver Tirthsingh Dalbirsingh, 41, was killed when the vehicle hit a divider and overturned. Following the accident, one side of the highway was blocked for five hours as the cylinders had scattered all around. Police sources said the truck was heading towards Gujarat from Kanagala gas refilling plant via Nippani. All the cylinders in the truck were empty.

Truck driver, cleaner killed in accident in Krishnagiri

A driver and a cleaner died in a truck accident near Bargur in Krishnagiri district. The truck, carrying date palm tree branches, rammed into another truck from behind, causing traffic disruption for an hour. The exact cause of the accident is unknown as both the driver and cleaner died in the incident. The bodies have been sent for postmortem and an investigation is underway. Labourer killed by reversing garbage truck

A labourer was killed after being run over by a garbage collection truck near Dadar railway station in Mumbai. The victim, identified as Anil Kochare, was rushed to the hospital but did not survive his injuries. The truck driver has been arrested for negligence and rash driving. The incident occurred when the driver reversed the truck without checking the rear-view mirror, running over Kochare, who had come to the city in search of work. The accused has been detained and his statement recorded by the police.

Standoff between Customs & cops over truck laden with clothes, shoes

A tussle between Customs officials and Bidhannagar Police occurred when a freighter exiting Kolkata airport with allegedly smuggled goods was intercepted. The driver tried to flee, leaving the vehicle in the middle of a busy road. After a few hours of confusion and drama, it was discovered that the cartons contained clothes, shoes, ornaments, and watches. The Customs officials had conducted the raid based on information about gold smuggling. The police had already seized the goods and nabbed the driver before the raid took place.
