Amid heatwave alert, CM Revanth calls for extreme caution
Hyderabad: In view of the severe heatwave warning issued by the meteorological department, chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday urged people to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions against the intense heat conditions prevailing across the state.
The CM said severe heatwave conditions are likely to intensify in the north Telangana districts and directed officials concerned to take all precautionary measures to safeguard public health.
He further advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during afternoon hours, when temperatures are expected to remain high. Revanth instructed chief secretary Ramakrishna Rao to monitor the situation across districts continuously and issue necessary guidelines to district collectors for effectively handling the heatwave conditions and ensuring public safety during the summer.
Authorities were directed to ensure an adequate supply of ORS packets, drinking water, and an uninterrupted power supply to residents.
The CM also directed officials of the medical and health department, from primary health centres to district hospitals, to remain on high alert and provide immediate treatment to people suffering from heatstroke and other heat-related ailments.
“Local authorities should set up ‘Chali Vendralu’ (free drinking water centres) in urban areas to provide relief to the public during the summer heat,” added Revanth.
