BRS may name 5 candidates before election schedule

Hyderabad: The BRS is likely to declare candidates for the pending five seats before the announcement of the election schedule. After appointing Jangaon MLA Muthireddy Yadagiri Reddy as chairman of TSRTC, the party is all set to pick MLC Palla Rajeshwar Reddy as the party candidate for the constituency. Rajeshwara Reddy has already started campaigning in the assembly segment. In the case of Malkajgiri, the party has given the go-ahead to Marri Rajasekhar Reddy’s candidature. He had started campaigning in the segment without waiting for the official announcement. Sitting MLA Mynampally Hanmantha Rao, who was originally given the ticket, quit BRS recently and joined Congress after a row with the party leadership over denial of ticket to his son.. The party is still in a dilemma over Narsapur assembly. In the first list, the party did not announce the candidate with an intention to give the ticket to ex-minister Sunita Laxma Reddy. But the sitting MLA Madan Reddy is particular about contesting from the assembly constituency at any cost. Sources in the party said that the party would prefer Laxma Reddy over the sitting legislator. BRS is considering two leaders — Nanda Kishore Vyas, party incharge of Goshamahal assembly segment, and Ashish Kumar Yadav — for Goshamahal segment. Vyas had contested as an independent from Goshamahal in 2014. The party is undecided on Nampally candidate. AIMIM represents the segment and this time the party is not keen on fielding a strong leader. In 2018, Ch Anand Kumar Goud contested on BRS ticket and secured 17,000 votes, while in 2014 its candidate K Hanmantha Rao got 6,327 votes.

Chhattisgarh's new tribal front: Hamar Raj Party sets sight on assembly elections; may field 50 candidates

The Chhattisgarh Sarva Adivasi Samaj, an organization representing tribal communities, has formed the Hamar Raj Party (HRP) and plans to nominate candidates for 50 out of 90 assembly seats in the upcoming Chhattisgarh assembly elections. The HRP aims to address tribal rights and issues such as water, forest, and land. The party will field candidates in seats reserved for scheduled tribes, including 12 assembly segments in Bastar. In a previous by-election, the HRP candidate received over 23,000 votes, indicating potential for success in the upcoming elections.

BRS should brace for backlash from Dalits

Congress leaders in Telangana, A Revanth Reddy and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, criticized the state's ruling party, the BRS, and its leader KT Rama Rao. They accused the BRS of corruption and selling government land. Reddy also claimed that neither KT Rama Rao nor his father, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, would be able to prevent the Congress from coming to power. Meanwhile, the BJP is highlighting the success of its governance models in Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh, while the Congress is focusing on its achievements in Karnataka.

BRS ministers slam PM over BJP promises

Telangana Health Minister Harish Rao, along with other cabinet colleagues, criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not fulfilling promises and neglecting irrigation projects in Telangana. They also accused the BJP of obstructing vital projects and failing to address the Krishna water dispute. Agriculture Minister Niranjan Reddy criticized PM Modi for ignoring toll taxes on motorists using the roads he claimed to have developed. Rural Development Minister Dayakar Rao questioned the lack of response from the Centre regarding promises such as the tribal university and turmeric board.
