BRS opposes tree felling in KBR Park: KTR
Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao said the BRS would oppose felling of trees in KBR park and attempts to destroy the environment. The affected owners of KBR park road widening project met KTR at his residence on Thursday evening. They appealed to oppose the attempts to chop a large number of trees around KBR Park in the backdrop of the Supreme Court verdict, and called to protect KBR Park.
Speaking on the occasion after hearing the representatives’ appeal, KTR stated that KBR Park is an extremely valuable “lung space” for Hyderabad. He said there is a need to democratically and legally oppose any action that destroys such greenery.
KTR informed that during the previous BRS govt’s tenure, alternative plans were prepared on an underground basis without causing any disturbance to the existence of KBR Park and its trees. He recalled that those plans are still available with the municipal administration department. He stated that destroying the environment in the name of development is not the right approach, and that development and environmental protection can both be harmonised through technology and comprehensive planning.
KTR opined that the govt needs to take into consideration the concerns being expressed by the public against the felling of trees around KBR Park. He assured that protecting the environment is the responsibility of every individual, and that the BRS party would stand by the people on this issue. KTR made it clear that protecting environmental assets like KBR Park is essential to bequeath a green legacy to future generations of Hyderabad.
