Hyderabad: A construction firm was accused by its customers of cheating after it allegedly failed to deliver possession of villas in Kollur after collecting crores of rupees. The company allegedly lured customers into making large deposits under a ‘pre-launch offer'.
A criminal case was registered by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Cyberabad police against the company management under Sections 316 (criminal breach of trust) and 318 (cheating) of BNS.
Police said that one of the victims was approached by a construction firm representative named Rajesh, who said their company was coming up with a villa project at Kollur and asked him to visit their office.
"They explained about the project and lured the victim with a pre-launch offer on a villa to be built on 200 square yards at Rs 1.60 cr. Believing the company representatives, the victim paid Rs 1.38 crore in 2023," officials said. However, at the time of accepting the payment, the company was yet to get permission from RERA and HMDA.
Till date, the company has neither developed the project nor obtained permission from the departments concerned, the victims said in their complaint.
