Cops bust gang making fake documents, arrest 6

Hyderabad: Six persons allegedly involved in creating various fake identification documents including voter IDs and Aadhaar cards were arrested by Task Force cops on Thursday. The accused had allegedly helped six Nepalis obtain Indian Passports using these fake documents, cops said. The arrested accused are Y Rajkumar, owner of RS Online Service Centre in Patny, his computer operators K Pallavi and Vijay Lakshmi, passport agent B Shankar, GHMC computer operator G Anil Kumar and Mohammed Mahmood. Police said that Rajkumar, a resident of Kalasiguda, had been running his shop for the past 10 years. Since 2015, he is suspected to have created 15,000 fake voter IDs, 10,000 fake Aadhaar cards, 50 fake passports, 2,000 fake birth certificates and 1,500 fake PAN cards. Cops seized several fake voter IDs, fake attested forms, Aadhaar cards and biometric device for Aadhaar changes, birth certificates and six fake documents issued for obtaining passports. There were also original stamps of school headmaster and three doctors working in the office of DM&HO, Gandhi Hospital and Osmania General Hospital in their possession. They also had a gazetted officer's stamp which they had stolen from his office, police said.Police said that Rajkumar created fake IDs using a software application. Similarly, he also created fake birth certificates by using pre-printed forms. The gang was also involved in obtaining caste certificates by submitting fake documents at the office of MRO, Maredpally."The accused were applying through MeeSeva for different services by submitting fake ID proofs. If anyone wanted to make changes in their Aadhaar, the accused used to submit a fabricated affidavit by faking a gazetted officer's signature. There is no system of checking the genuineness of documents submitted," DCP (Task Force) YVS. Sudeendra told TOI. Cops said that the accused managed to submit these fake documents or illegally obtained genuine documents to help people get Indian passports. It is the job of special branch authorities to verify the documents submitted, cops said. "We have to probe further to know if there was any connivance of policemen," an official said. Cops said that Rajkumar, fearing arrest, had even corrupted his computer to destroy old data after one of his agents, A Sravankumar, was caught in June 2023 by Neredmet police in a similar case. Officials said this has made it difficult for them to find about his previous activities.
