While locals claimed the villagers fell sick after consuming water from a well where a dog's carcass was found a few days ago, revenue officials are yet to confirm it. Officials told TOI that they are yet to get report from doctors about the cause of death.

The deceased were identified as 25-year-old Bodi Mahesh and an elderly woman, Sayamma, both residents of BC Colony in Sanjeevaraopet. No complaint has been filed with the police so far.

Revenue divisional officer Ashok Chakravarty said the cause is yet to be ascertained and added, "We suspect that the woman may have passed away due to old age and the young man succumbed to appendicitis."
