HYDERABAD: The Green India Challenge (GIC), which has started a movement to increase the green cover across the country, has begun its sixth phase by planting nearly 1,000 saplings at Kondagattu forest area in Jagityal district of Telangana on Saturday.
GIC founder and MP Joginapally Santosh Kumar, ministers Koppula Eshwar and Gangula Kamalakar, MLAs and other officials participated in the green movement and planted saplings. This year the theme of GIC is "Fight against plastic pollution and control its use"
Speaking on the occasion at Kondagattu, Santosh Kumar said CM K Chandrashekhar Rao with his vision and support in reconstructing the renowned Lord Anjaneya Swamy temple within the lush surroundings of Kondagattu forest area was aimed at to position the spiritual spot as one of the country's premier centre’s of spirituality while nurturing its natural beauty.
The MP had previously announced that the forest area adjoining the temple would be adopted and developed under the Green India Challenge. With an allocation of Rs 1.04 crore from MP funds, Santosh Kumar sanctioned various initiatives, including the construction of a protective fence, walking track, watchtower, gazebos, and the restoration of the forest area surrounding the temple premises.
