HYDERABAD: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday conducted searches at nine locations in Hyderabad and Guntur on the premises of several human hair exporters for allegedly being involved in under-invoicing, smuggling and foreign exchange violations.
Sources said that searches were conducted on Vikas Enterprises, Naresh Hair exporter, Hrithik Exim and several other companies. Excellent Hair is another company that came under scanner.
Searches were conducted at eight locations in Hyderabad and one in Guntur. ED has been conducting the probe with the assistance of the Customs department and GST officials.
Good quality human hair, Goli, is being exported. TOI has published series of stories on

Huge stocks are shipped from Hyderabad air cargo to China, Myanmar and Bangladesh which are under valued.
Human hair export market is around Rs 6,000 to Rs 8,000 crore per annum.
Hyderabad has become a hub for raw human hair under-invoicing racket and illegal smuggling. Smuggling from Hyderabad to Myanmar happened through Moreh, Aizwal borer towns and further into China.
Human hair is auctioned from temples, church shrines in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and the raw hair (Goli) collected from domestic households and saloons are used for exports and smuggling.
Apart from air cargo, smugglers are taking train routes from Secunderabad to Kolkata or Guwahati and then on road to Myanmar.
A strong link was found between gold smugglers of Hyderabad and Myanmar human hair smugglers. Hawala operators were also involved.
