HYDERABAD: A Telugu man was shot dead and another injured in a shooting at a

on Wednesday evening.The alleged culprit was arrested after a manhunt by the police.

The incident happened at

Austin's Bar and Grille in south Olathe

near 151st Street and

Mur-Len Road

on Wednesday evening (7.15 pm Kansas time). The victim was identified as Srinivas Kuchibhotla, an employee of Garmin. He died while being rushed to the University of Kansas hospital. His colleague Alok Madasani suffered bullet injuries and is said to be in a critical condition at the hospital. A third man, identified as Ian Grillot, was injured when he tried to intervene. According to local Kansas media reports, it was a tiff at the restaurant that escalated into a shooting. Eyewitnesses told Kansas police that after a heated argument, the alleged culprit, Adam Purington, went out, returned with a gun and fired at them. The suspect was later apprehended at a school, where he was hiding.

Srinivas had done his B Tech from the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University in the city and had gone to US for a master's degree in electrical and electronics engineering from the University of Texas, El Paso. He was part of the aviation systems engineering team at Garmin.

Alok Madasani studied engineering from Vasavi College of Engineering, Hyderabad, and did his master's at the University of Missouri, Kansas city.
